USPRO Road Race
To say that I’m absolutely thrilled with my ride at the USPRO road race would be a huge understatement. It’s true I’ve been focusing on this race for the last six weeks so I was expecting a lot out of myself, but 3rd place? I don’t think it has had a chance to sink in just yet. I am really happy with my result but also I think I’m in a state of shock of what I’m actually capable of, now the pressure will really be on.
What a feeling standing on the podium with two legends of the sport, not just in US cycling but top tour riders. It is something that I will relish for a long time. Now I can say that I have been on the podium at both Mountain Bike and Road National Pro Championships. I’m not sure but I might be the only American to ever do that.
There is no doubt I was on a great day and I knew it immediately but my result would not have been possible without my teammates completely sacrificing themselves for me. We only had four riders in the race but everyone rose to another level and that allowed me to focus on the finish of the race. I wish I could have brought my teammates up on the podium with me because they deserved to be up there just as much as I did.
This is the ultimate way to finish off the season. There’s nothing better than going out on a high note. I actually still have two races remaining including the Vegas Criterium World Championships but that will be a good opportunity for me to repay the guys for helping me out all season. Now it’s time to put my business skills to use and work on my contract for next season. I am also excited to put a lot of extra time into my coaching business this winter and catch up with some of my athletes out on the bike. Thanks to everyone that has supported me and the team this season!

Dear Neil:
Keith at K-Man recently told me you had really been riding well. I GUESS SO! Congratulations on a great year.
You may remember me as somewhat of a regular at Keith’s shop when you used to wrench for him. I confine myself to mountain biking and hiking these days with family / work / church taking their rightful share of my time.
I look forward to rooting you on to even greater success next year!
God-speed

Hey Neil, I watched the race on Versus today. I knew you were strong when i saw you at the Soto earlier in the year, but this was incredible! Great Job!
Neil,
I was in Greenville and witnessed your 3rd place finish. A great ending for what was a tough day on the bike. Congratulations !
Neil and team,
What a great day it was in Greenville! As you said, to see Jittery Joes orange up on the podium with ‘legends’ like Levi and Georgie was a real thrill. We always pull for the team and will be in Greenville and maybe a couple of other races next year to root y’all on again.

Hi Neil,
How far you have come!!! I am so proud of you for working so hard and staying with the sport. I always knew you had the ability to be a successful pro. I check the results for time to time looking for your name and I am always glad when I see you have had a good race. The team is very lucky to have a rider of your quality. Give my best to Cindy.
