CSC Invitational Race Report

Hey, it’s me!!
You guys probably saw some kid with a weird French name on the team pictures and you always wondered how come you never saw him to a race before. Well it’s me and I finally raced with the team today. It was good seeing the guys I only met in San Diego, a couple months ago.So for my welcoming race, I had the “chance” of racing one, or the, hardest criterium in the States. The race consisted of a 100 km race on a 1k circuit (You do the math, and it gives you 100 laps!!!). The circuit was really tricky with 5 turns and one that was almost a u-turn. So I was pretty excited going in this race even though it was like 90°.
The race started out not to fast so I managed to attack and do 4 laps with another guy. He wasn’t the best escape-mate, so we were caught pretty quickly. After that I found the way to keep a good spot in the pack. Matt also got in a break about half way into the race. He had good partners, but they were caught pretty quickly. Given the warm temperature, the organiser allowed a feed zone. The problem was that it was going so fast, that many of us missed the bottles because they slept right out of our hands. All of us where well placed in the pack during the race. Evan and Matt were well placed at the end and Big Elk sprinted to get in a solid 9th place. Austin finished with Matt in the pack. Tommy got a flat with just 3 laps to go so it ended he’s race faster than planned. Cody the Roadie unfortunately had one of those days when you don’t have the legs. It’s bad, but it’s cycling. Some day you are flying, others you are fighting to get your bike moving. As for Tim and I, we got dropped respectively with 4 and 3 to go. Even though I didn’t finish, I’m pretty happy with the day. Just having to race with the Bean Team was awesome and I really look forward for tomorrow in Lancaster.
Take care guys,
