Nalley Roswell Criterium
Filed Under Race Reports | Posted by Hoppy |
Cody “The Roady” Stevensen flys under the radar to narrowly miss out on winning the Nalley Roswell CriteriumAfter the harrowing experience of the previous evening the Jittery Joes boys were down to 2 riders. Cody “The Roady” Stevenson and Tim “Two First Names” Henry . Speaking with Stevenson before the start of the race, he said “Nothing short of a victory is going to be good enough. Or maybe if I get 2nd then I will be half as happy as if I had won the race and since I didn’t fall over last night I feel great.” On whether he gave a crap about Trent not being able to start Stevenson said “I don’t care, I don’t really rate him anyway, he’s a much better beer drinker than bike rider” (now I do believe Cody may have been joking when he said that).
With Henry’s career crash total topping 800 and his 2007 numbers pushing into the high 40’s the crowd in Roswell had gathered to see some spectacular riding from the Atlanta native youngster. Said Henry on the his recent form, “Yeah I feel great, I have actaully had great success crashing in both dry and wet conditions this year, so I could really take it or leave it regarding the weather, although the wet is nice to increase the length of my slides, but really there aren’t ever as many people watching, so I prefer the dry to put on the great show. I’m a showman, what can I say.” I think we all agreed with you on that one Tim.
Back to the race it was a furious pace form the get-go. Similar to the previous evening a group of the right players went up with road including Jittery Joes Henry. That group came back after a little while and then it was the next group that ended up sticking with some smooth riding by Cody Stevenson to slide himself into postion.
The group looked good. On the back stretch it was the Quebexican National Champion attacking the group and opening up a handy gap. Around the last turn Stevenson came around 2nd in the group just a few meters behind the raging Canuck and beginning winding up his sprint from about 60rpm he hit the go button with 200m to go and while it didn’t look like much happened, it sure as hell did, dudes. As stevenson reached mach 8 the finish line came too quickly for him to overcome the Hockey-Haired canadian flyer to come in a gallant 2nd place.
Said Stevenson after the race, “I am going to protest the finish line position. How are they thinking that 300m is enough room for me to catch that guy. I think those guys are racists. Or maybe they are Codyists. They are fundamentally against people named Cody. I hate them anyway, but I would like to thank my Sram gear, I threw a couple of sprint shifts in down the straight just to keep the revs below 80rpm and she was great.”
So that is it, somebody won Cody came 2nd and somebody probably finished 3rd as well. Good going.

I reckon I’m a Codyist as well….I’ve given up on being a Jeffist because he’s not getting any results yet…..mullet haired, skol chewing, gear jamming, beer swilling blood-nut homo….
keep up the good work(results)cody and dont 4get the penrith boys are keeping an eye on you
If Cody could ride as quick as his tongue can move he would win more sprints. Having said, I’m still one of your top 10 admirers.
Keep the yanks guessing lad,
Uncle Matt.
