So the Bean Team rocked up to Charlotte, nc for the Bank of America International Invitational Pro Only Grand Prix of Criterium Cycle Racing ( I beleive that was the full title) a little fresh after a weekend off racing due to “Another” race running somewhere in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania, but 63 guys finishing your race is better than having pro teams. Anyway, back to the event. Myself, Willo, Kinga, The Hulk, BD Ando, Hatto and the Taiwanese national team member Phil Wong rocked up there hoping that our form of the previous night in Statesville(awesome team ride I came in 3rd) was well and truly alive. So the race got going and myself Willo, ando Ev and Kinga were in the front getting into the action. A break was up the road and Healthnet started chasing with about 12 or 14 to go or something like that. I hooked up with Willo and we slowly made up spots until I got a little bit puffed out. Then I got puffed out a little more. I told Willo that I’m feeling a little puffed out, and then before I knew it I was totally puffed out. I think Ando crashed too. and then after I got totally puffed I think it was 9 or 10 to go or something. I could have slit my wrists, but fought the urge!! so then it was Willo and Hatto was hanging on the back of the field. It started to rain and that was the end for Willo and as it turns out he is the wicked witch of the west’s illigitamate son and melts in the rain. Not really, but it was too much for him to overcome racing full pressure non-rain tyres. So it was Hatto. the mad hatter hit them with 1/2 to go, but they were wary of a move like that and were on to him straight away. so in the end, somebody won, someone else finished 2nd, and so on down to Hatto with a great finish to come in 6th. Good stuff. so I decided to divorce my team-mates this coming weekend, as they head to Montreal for the race to Quebec and I think they are going to throw Louis Garneau a high 5 while they are there. Me myself and I will be making our way up to chicago for the tour of Elk Grove, which apparently isn’t that much of a tour so much as checking out one street?? So if you are in Chicago, come and say g’day, if you’re in Montreal or Quebec say g’day to the fella’s and if you are anywhere else apart from those joints, say g’day to yourself and check the results on the internet. keep it real….hoppy
